OPEN FOREST IN ACM INTERACTIONS 🌲

Together with the Open Forest Collective we wrote a short piece about our co-creative forest experiments, discussing the importance of questioning the existing forest data, how it is produced, and by whom. The article Open forest: walking with forests, stories, data, and other creatures has been published in the first 2022 issue of the ACM Interactions magazine. Full text is available on the magazine website and as a downloadable PDF 👀

CREATURES @ NUDOS JORNADAS MAGALLANES ICC PARA PENSAR ARTE, CIENCIA, TECNOLOGÍA Y SOSTENIBILIDAD

Proyectos cocreativos para futuros transformadores – a master class at the Nudos conference in Seville // sharing insights from the CreaTures project 🌱🦑

BYOK [Bring Your Own Kitchen]
BYOK [Bring Your Own Kitchen] – experimental kitchen lab at the Pixelache festival [Helsinki, FI] & kitchens around the world 🥕🥕🥕.

BYOK [Bring Your Own Kitchen] is a week-long series of distributed food design experiments connecting edibles, forests, humans, and other creatures and critters from around the world. Each experimental session invites these participants to come together, share resources and experiences, and co-create recipes for something old or new. We will approach food as a complex composite of substances, processes, experiences, and meanings – both existing and imagined – and collectively respond to various food-related themes (see events details below). We will forage in interconnected forests, cook an ancient grain risotto, sit around a fire, taste the flavors of extinction, explore the boundaries between soil and dirt, and much more. Broadcasted from the Pixelache festival in Helsinki, Finland, the hybrid event is open to everyone, everywhere, via a portal of their choice. All you need to join our hybrid collaborative cooking show is to Bring Your Own Kitchen.

UROBOROS - DESIGNING IN TROUBLING TIMES, VOL.2

The Uroboros festival invites designers, artists, researchers and other creatives to propose experimental reflections on the festival theme Designing in Troubling Times.
The Uroboros festival is a hybrid experimental inquiry into the transformative potential of design research and practice. The festival theme Designing in Troubling Times is inspired by the ambiguous symbol of Uroboros – a serpent devouring itself and changing its form in an eternal cycle of re-creation, using its own body as fuel. The circular and cyclical Uroboros captures the ambiguity of present technologies and designs for the troubling and troubled times that we are living in. The serpent represents the mythological origins of all our technological promises about eternal returns and the search for utopia. Asking what design can do to support positive change in the world today, the festival explores the cyclical processes of design imagination, innovation, failure and return.
